Master Drummer Bolokada Conde is back in town!
He will offer 7 community class sessions for djembe and dun duns this fall! The classes will be on Sundays again from 4 to 5:30 pm at the new Capoeira Center at 221 S. Locust St. Champaign. No need to pre-register. The cost will be $12 for students and $15 for non-students. If you pay for 5 classes at once you get the 6th class free. Dates are Sept. 4, 11, 18, and Oct. 2, 9, 16, and 23. On Nov. 2
Bolokada will depart to spend the winter months in Guinea with family and drumming there, so take advantage of his classes while he's in town!

Grass Roots Revival performs Bluegrass & Gospel
Some of the best names in bluegrass return to Rockome Gardens for two days of music in their 17th Annual "Bluegrass in the Gardens" Music Festival. The festival features stage shows from 12:00 noon to 6 PM both days, with bluegrass bands from Illinois, Ohio, New York, Kentucky, Tennessee and Missouri.

Dreamy, psychedelic melodies meet funky improvised beats in the didj explorations of Tree Thump. Phil Clark cranks it up with the didjeridu, JB Faires mixes it up on bass, Ben Hay lends a Zimbabwe-pop-and-zydeco infusion to his drum licks, and percussionist Jason Finkelman brings congas, caxixi, bells, and whistles to a music that can only be called—as the band puts it—“an experience.” Special Guest guitarist Ben Juday will join Tree Thump for Sweetcorn Festival.
