"Those who teach, can..." Opening Reception

Reception: Friday May 11 6-9pm With live music by Los Guapos.

Champaign Unit 4 Artists/Teachers are displaying their artwork in this annual district-wide exhibition of personal art work at Indi Go Gallery from May 11 through May 20. The opening reception will take place on May 11, from 6-9pm.

A group of accomplished art teachers set out to dispel a common myth about the artistic abilities of art teachers with their show “Those Who Teach, Can.” The artwork is from 17 artists/teachers using a variety of media including photography, painting, sculpture, graphic design, and mixed media. These artists/teachers prove that they CAN with their creative, inspirational, and thoughtful works of art.

GIVE YOUR KIDS THE CHANCE TO EXPLORE THE WORLD FROM RIGHT HERE AT HOME!

Join us at the Centro de Capoeira Livre Como Vento (Free Like the Wind Capoeira Center) in Champaign for an experience in all things Latin America. Each day kids will get a chance to enjoy interactive Spanish lessons, create arts and crafts from different countries, learn about Latin American culture, and get moving with capoeira—a Brazilian martial-arts dance form.

The camp will also include walking field trips to the I.D.E.A. store where students can select materials for one of our projects, lunch at the Fiesta Cafe, as well as sack lunches in the park weather permitting. The camp is offered throughout the summer in three one-week, half-day sessions.

Bring your instrument and learn to play tango music in the style of Orquesta Tipica. We are particularly needing strings, but all instruments are welcome.

(Followed by tango dance practica, 6:30-8:30 pm. If the tango band
sounds any good, we will play the songs we rehearsed for the dancers
when they show up.)
