Champaign-Urbana's longest-running weekly Irish traditional music
session is now located at The Blind Pig on Wednesday evenings from 8:30pm to 10:30pm.

Sessions focus on the traditional dance music of Ireland--jigs,reels, hornpipes, waltzes and much more--played on authentic Irish instruments including fiddle, button accordion, concertina, piano, pipes and tenor banjo. Throughout the evening occasional songs are sung and stories told as well. Musicians with some experience in playing Irish music are welcome, and those with an interest in learning to play Irish music are encouraged to come and listen.

West African Dance Fitness Classes with Tatianna Ammons & Friends!
Join us every Sunday from 6-7:30 pm at the Channing Murray Foundation in Urbana for an energetic West African dance fitness class inspired by the rhythms of Guinea in West Africa. Led primarily by Tatianna Ammons, the class is appropriate for all ages, fitness, and experience levels. Each class focuses on 1-2 rhythms accompanied by live drumming from some of our fantastic local volunteer drummers and ends with a lively community circle.

A $5-10 sliding scale donation is requested to cover the cost of the space rental. Any additional funds will be put towards bringing in dynamic guest instructors from Chicago and St. Louis. In other words this class is focused on community building, fitness, and a celebration of culture and NOT on profit. Children and seniors always participate for free, and anyone can try their first class for free!

Come dressed in loose, comfortable clothing and bring plenty of water!

A Concert of Songs that Soar.

Escape the bonds of gravity with music by women who look to the skies for inspiration, strength, and comfort. Amasong will perform songs of birds, bees, and things with wings, letting our voices soar and lifting our spirits. As always our music comes from all over the globe. Music director, Jill Crandall.

Come and join us for the opportunity learn Regional Dances of Brazil taught by Brazilian Dance Professor Lendro Marron. We will have 4 days of workshops that will include the following dances: Samba, Samba de Gafifira Forro, Dança de Coco, Jongo, Soltinho, Xaxado, and Zouk. No prior dance experience is necessary, nor dance partner.

Professor Leandro Marron has a degree in Dance from (UFRJ) University of Rio de Janeiro. He has been teaching for more than 10 years, specializing in the popular regional dances of Brazil.
