Balinese Community Gamelan practices on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 pm, on the fourth floor of Levis Faculty Center (corner of Gregory and Illinois, on campus). The gamelan (an orchestra of Balinese gongs and metal-keyed instruments) is open to all. The current age-range of members is from 9 to 66! No prior experience of gamelan or formal music training is needed: we can accommodate people at all levels. There is also room for people who want to try Balinese dance. We ask only that if you decide to join us, after checking us out, you come regularly to the Monday-night rehearsals, so we can count on you for performances.
