The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective

The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective looks forward to resuming in Fall 2020.

-----

The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective is an exciting new student led project at the University of Illinois establishing a music and dance ensemble dedicated to high-quality authentic and innovative Flamenco performance and education.

Musicians and dancers from all backgrounds meet weekly with Brian Stark (music) and Alyssa Teijeiro-Ficht (dance) to work on repertoire for performance. These sessions take place Sundays from 5-7p in Department of Dance Studios Nevada A & B (917 1/2 W Nevada St, Urbana, IL)

For Spring 2020, the collective is honored to host monthly visits from professional, Chicago-based Flamenco artists David Chiriboga (guitar) and Mia Angela de Lourdes "La Malou" (dance). Sessions with these guest artists are scheduled for February 16, March 1, April 5, and May 3.

Sessions are open to students and community members to sit in and learn this wonderful music with us!

Guest artist engagements are made possible with support from a Global Intersections Grant funded by the Center for Global Studies and the European Union Center.

The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective receives additional in-kind support from the Department of Dance and the Robert E. Brown Center for World Music.
