Timbalú is Champaign Urbana's premier salsa band, playing Latin boogaloo, classic salsa, and Cuban timba.
Made up of representatives from across Latin America, as well as their North American and European allies, the ten-piece Timbalú makes powerful music-to-move-to. Directed by UIUC school of music graduate student, Ian Middleton, the group brings together UIUC students, graduates, faculty, staff and members of the Urbana Champaign community. It is a practical development of Ian's ethnographic research on Latin American traditional and popular musics.
