Show Description:
Imprisonment of women activists in Tehran’s Evin prison. Bombardment of neighborhoods and cities in Afghanistan and Syria. Looting of national museums and libraries in Iraq. Massacre of Rana Plaza garment factory workers in Bangladesh. Ongoing murder and imprisonment of journalists and activists around the world. In this exhibition, the works of two sisters bring into focus the kaleidoscopic injustices of the capitalist world order.

Nasrin Navab and Nahid Navab, sisters and displaced Iranian artists, capture the struggles of people across time and place through a collection of drawings, installations, paintings, and printmaking. The art of Navab sisters spring from their social and political struggles against forced gender and social identity in both Iran and in the U.S. In bringing together memories, voices, and struggles, the artworks invoke an urgent need for transnational solidarities.
