Cultural Celebration Series: Samba Soul

The Cultural Celebration Series is a joyful, continuing recognition of the diversity of cultures and types of music, dance, and storytelling available in our area. Our March performance will be by Samba Soul.

Samba Soul has solid roots in the classical Brazilian Samba and a sophisticated touch of Bossa Nova. With an enlightened approach and interpretation of Brazilian popular music, Samba Soul has drawn acclaim from audiences wherever they have played. The band offers a broad and flexible repertoire, ranging from classical Brazilian music to contemporary samba and MPB (Brazilian popular music). The band is inspired by the legends of Brazilian Samba and Popular Music, such as Tom Jobim, Djavan, Clara Nunes, Yvone Lara, Elizette Cardozo, Adoniran Barbosa, Elis Regina, Carlos Lyra, Roberto Menescal, Ivans Lins, Lo Borges, Milton Nascimento, Joao Gilberto, and Joao Bosco, as well as singers such as Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald.
