Bharatanatyam Salangai Pooja,
an ode to the dancing bells

Salangai (dance bells) puja (obescience) marks an important landmark in dance education and is considered a Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam) pre-graduation event. Four University of Illinois graduate students who have been retraining for the past two years after having discontinued their dance training at a young age will be presenting an hour and a half long live dance recital. Varsha Kaushik, Banu Muthukumar, Ashwathi Iyer and Revathi Jambunathan, are delighted to perform under the guidance of Guru Dr. Subhalakshmi Kumar. They humbly request everyone to come support them on this important day.

There will be live Indian classical music Orchestra for this event comprising University of Illinois undergraduate students, staff and alumni.
