A rich fusion of creative forces gave birth to son—a musical legacy combining African rhythms and Spanish lyricism that first rose to popularity in the early part of the 20th century and now serves as the national music and dance style of Cuba. In a celebratory evening entitled Cuban Nights, the 11-member Havana Cuba All-Stars, also known as Asere (the Cuban word for friendship), honor this traditional acoustic form while innovating delightfully with inventive songwriting, irresistible musicianship, and undeniable charm.
