Bernard Woma: Master of the Ghanaian Xylophone

This special performance features Bernard Woma, a nationally recognized master musician from Ghana who has toured the world as xylophonist and lead drummer of the National Dance Company of Ghana. He is an extremely dynamic artist and deeply experienced educator. Woma will play the Gyil, a small African xylophone that is indigenous to Ghana.

For this performance, he will be joined by Matt Jacklin, the director of percussion studies at Olivet Nazarene University. Jacklin has made concerto and solo recital appearances throughout the United States and abroad.

This event is made possible in part by a grant from the Urbana Arts Council.
