FOLK AND ROOTS FESTIVAL 2015!

As is tradition, the festival will begin with a Krannert Uncorked performance on Thursday, November 5 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The festival opener features Cedric Watson & Les Amis Creoles along with the Cornstalker Cajun Band performing admission free in the lobby of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, located at 500 S Goodwin Avenue in Urbana, IL.

A new additional collaboration with Krannert Center this year, is a Global Transfer Afterglow performance featuring James Falzone's Allos Musica Ensemble. This ensemble features a lyrical intersection of contemporary, classical, jazz, and traditional music that mixes the divergent streams of Middle Eastern and European influences in an eclectic ensemble of oud, accordion, clarinet, percussion, and voice. Also presented admission free on Krannert Center's lobby stage 5, Allos Musica will perform around 9:30pm.

Allos Musica will additionally engage with the festival with a performance collaboration with the Mean Lids as part of the Friday night contra dance in the Urbana Landmark Hotel Ballroom, and with Saturday morning workshops by Tim Mulvenna on bodhran/frame drum and Ronnie Malley on oud.
