CALL FOR MUSICIANS - GO: ORGANIC ORCHESTRA

The Robert E. Brown Center for World Music is pleased to offer an opportunity to participate in a week long workshop and performance residency of Go: Organic Orchestra, exploring conducted, improvised music under the direction of George A. Miller Visiting Artist, Composer/Percussionist Adam Rudolph. The residency from Monday, January 26 – Saturday, January 31 culminates with a performance at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday at 7:30pm.

DETAILS

ANY and ALL music backgrounds are welcome including: Western classically trained, jazz players, as well as musicians with backgrounds in world music: (traditional folk and classical music of all styles; African, South Asian, East Asian, Eastern European, etc).

ANY and ALL instruments are welcome including: laptop performers, electronics, DJ’s, instrument makers. Any level of experience is welcome, however, you must be fluent on your instrument and have an open mind and spirit.

The workshop / performance residency is offered at no charge, but participants are expected to make all workshops. There will be no credit offered to participating students, nor payment made to performers. An outcome of this unique performance opportunity is to simply present what has been developed together, in a great concert setting, open to the public, free of charge.

SCHEDULE
Workshops: Tuesday, January 27 - Friday, January 30, 2015
7:00-10:30pm Orchestra Rehearsal Room, KCPA
Saturday, January 31:
1:00-4:00pm load in, sound check, and on stage rehearsal, Tryon Festival Theatre, KCPA
4:00-6:30pm break
6:45pm musicians check in
7:30pm Go: Organic Orchestra Performance, Tryon Festival Theatre, KCPA

IMPORTANT - Participants should note that the Saturday, January 31 afternoon workshop is mandatory and that attendance for all workshops is preferred. However, if you would like to participate but have conflicts with the evening schedule, a minimum of attending two evening rehearsals is required.

You will be included on our list and then receive the score materials (3 pages of interval matrices) to practice ahead of time. If you would like to participate, but have a conflict with one of the rehearsals, please indicate in this correspondence.
